An alternative look at the great outdoors...
Up and away by 9am after a lovely night's sleep so we arrived at White Bridge by 9:50 ready to head for Braemar, only to find a message from Adrian that the others had arrived at 8pm the previous night and moved a further 2kn down the valley to find a camp site.
When we met them later it turned out that they had made very good time and had overshot the bridge without realising it. After a quick brew we all left for Braemar at 11am and arrived in town at 3pm after a leisurely one hour lunch break at Victoria Bridge. During our break not one car passed by but as we were leaving Anne wanted a DA photo of the group so put her camera on top of her sack in the middle of the road. During the next 3 minutes at least eight cars came past and as she finally pressed the shutter release and ran to join us a car started over the bridge so the picture shows us all waving for the car to stop not us waving at the camera!
After arriving in Braemar we treated ourselves to Fish & Chips at the take-a-way and then popped into a cafe for a large pot of tea, very good value at 30p for four cups. We had a quick look around a couple of tourist type shops and finally made our way to the YH. After dinner we went back to the Fife Arms for a few pints before retiring to a real bed for a good night's sleep.
