Day 6

Thursday 17th May - Loch Ossian to Culra Bothy

We were up yet again at 6:30, amazingly consistent when we don't have an alarm clock, but there is no sign of the ladies stirring so it's back to bed. Finally we get away from the camp site at 7:45 and decide to take the long route up Beinn Eibhinn (Avon) then it's on to Anoach Beag and down into the bealach for lunch before we tackle Geal Charn which we consider is enough for one day, leaving the final Munro in the group, Carn Dearg, for another day.

The way down is very steep and broken initially and once past this difficult area we are into peat bog so in hindsight it would probably have been quicker to have gone over the final Munro and direct to the bothy as it is directly below Carn Dearg. I arrived at Culra Lodge at 5:10 just as two other lads were leaving, Mic & J came in at 5:30 and Ann at about 5:45 very tired.

Two more Challengers came in at about 7:00 and during the evening gave us a few tips as to how we could pick up some Munros to keep us on track for our high level route. We decide to have a lay in tomorrow as we only have a 13k day into Dalwhinnie.
