Picture of Doodle - a
black cat

Welcome to Doodlecat - where we enjoy the great outdoors and gather a range of news and views. Much of the content is courtesy of the generous contributions from the splendid people who participate in the annual TGO Challenge, so there is a wealth of outdoor experience here, especially if you like walking in Scotland - but we try to range worldwide.

The home page is where we post the latest news and views from the Doodlecat team. You can have your say too! Just click on the 'comments' link on any of the posts - or if you have a story or photogallery that you think we'd like, then let us know. Random Doodles and the Image Gallery welcome guest contributions, as well as the perennial favourite, the TGO Challenge pages

The blogroll on the right displays ten links to other sites that you might like to try out - there are a lot more, and the list will change each time you visit or 'refresh' the page.

Enjoy your stay.

The Outdoors Station

Just to let you know that we have added a link to Bob Cartwright's Podcasts on the TGO Challenge page - well worth a visit. If you like what you hear, why not pop over to The Outdoors Station and subscribe for Bob's regular podcasts and videos? Something different to take your mind off the daily commute.

New on Doodlecat!

Join Mike Knipe on a series of monthly walks through the Howgill Fells. We have kicked off with the first three months (September, October and November). This is to bring us up to date, as from now on each monthly walk will be published in the right month - so December is published next, in December, followed by January in ... er ... January, and so on. You get the idea.

So, if you're looking for a different day out from the lakes, why not venture to the other side of the M6, and explore the Howgill Fells? The Howgill diaries are in Random Doodles, and you can start reading them HERE.

A Winner!

COLIN BENNETT is the winner of the Doodlecat competition!

Lord Elpus rose from his bed of pain this morning and put all the correct entries into a hat (or, more accurately, a plastic beaker) and after a good shake, asked me to draw out the winning name.

Well done, Colin. Lord E cunningly used a photo that was taken facing west, thinking that would confuse the eastwardly orientated mindset of any TGO challengers who entered. How wrong he was. He lost his bottle (ha!) with the very first entries!

The correct answer was NN238694 (Tom an Eite) looking west down Glen Nevis.
